About Vision. 10 Years of Great Service

Vision Sports was started in 1998 by a group of High School Officials who wanted more then to be just Adult Basketball Officials. "I can remember to this day, sitting at a bar with Mark Penaflor and Micheal Rapp and telling them that I was going to do this and would they help" Says owner Joey Garcia. I can remember Russell Hutchinson thinking I was crazy.

In 1998 we started small with a group of 10 to 20 guys that really wanted to take their game to another level. Our first Board was assigner Paul Phillips, Sam Wilson, Mike Manny, Terry Jordon, Paul Dawson, and Jerry Lopez.

In the Next 5 years, Vision Sports grew to be steadily a growing group of Basketball Officials that separated themselves from other groups. In the year 2003, Vision took the task of training current High School Officials to become better and make big strides in their quest to do higher level Basketball. We have several of the top rated Officials in San Diego such as Paul Demke,Harold Lewis,Doug Marhiene, Maxx Gianis,Gerry Norwood, Eric Wilde, Linda Powell and Many more.

By the year 2004, We had accomplish a system that inspired officials to get better and go to Camps. We where known for our game management on the court and had a knack for finding hungry youthful officials.

2008 WE ARE THE BEST of all groups throughout the state of California and have assign over 5,000 games a year.

We have had the pleasure of having some of the Best Women Officials to ever officiate here in San Diego. Michol Murray,Jennifer Tentor,and Mark Penaflor are among the few Alumni that are Current Division 1 Women Officials. Some other former Vision Women Officials that are on the verge of D1 and D2 status are Jennifer Simley,Irene Maldoando, and Scarlett Dalgleish.

Former Division 1 Official Linda Powell has joined our staff and brings her 15 year career at Both D 1 and 2. Lets not mention that Linda has officiated in the Dance on the Womens side.

We also have some really exciting New Officials to look out for in Ian Gregg, Adam Brust, Stephanie Lamar, and Stephen Oughton

On the Mens side, success has been hard to come buy, but we finally cracked Division 1 status with the hiring of Micheal Rapp in the West Coast Conference. We have Several up and coming Officials and by far all of our officials are highly ranked among the High School Associations
